Meet our Orofacial Myologist

Karese Laguerre is a Registered Dental Hygienist and Orofacial Myologist. In her years of working with various patient populations in the dental field she encountered similar trends and limitations in dental malocclusion and mouth-breathing. The correlation between the two became even more relevant as her own children grew in age and with pursuit of extensive hours in continuing education she achieved training in treating the primary cause, improper oral resting posture.

As a orofacial myologist, Karese, provides neuromuscular re-education of the oral and facial muscles. This therapy includes exercises that engage and strengthen the muscles of the face, neck and oral cavity to aid in achieving proper chewing, swallowing and breathing habits. Karese is also able to assist in the elimination of noxious oral habits such as thumb or digit sucking and pacifier elimination. She has also received training in Dr. Laynee's Restorative Breathing method and Angela Caine's VoiceGym; both of which are incorporated into the Central Jersey Myo Kids myofunctional therapy program to aid in cranial nerve integration and assist in achieving and maintaining proper oral resting postures.
