About Your First Visit:

At your first visit your child will receive a through examination and diagnosis. We welcome you to stay with your child during the initial examination. During future appointments, we suggest you allow your child to accompany our staff through the dental experience. We can usually establish a closer rapport with your child when you are not present. Our purpose is to gain your child’s confidence and overcome apprehension. However, if you choose, you are more than welcome to accompany your child to the treatment room. For the safety and privacy of all patients, other children who are not being treated should remain in the waiting area with a supervising adult.

We want to ensure that your first visit addressees all of your dental needs, so we ask that you arrive fifteen minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to fill out the proper paperwork. Your first visit will be approximately 45 minutes. To fill out the forms prior to your appointment please click on the forms link below.

Establishment of a Dental Home by the age of one year is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and the American Dental Association (ADA).  Children who visit the dentist regularly from an early age benefit greatly by receiving appropriate preventive and routine oral health care.  Parents can prepare the child by letting him or her know that the dentist and her staff will answer any questions and explain all procedures.  It is helpful not to relay any anxiety to to the child (even in the face of crying), as well as to refrain from using terms such as “needle”, “pull”, “pain” or “hurt”.  Additionally, it is important that if a young child displays negative behavior during the visit that this is normal and will diminish over time as he or she becomes accustomed to regular visits.  At Growing Faces we aim to provide a comfortable environment for parents and patients.
